Statement

As long as the images are with me, they are an aesthetic expression of what I feel within myself as “femininity.” They only become politicized at the moment when they step outwards and encounter an infinity of demands and expectations directed at “femininity.” Into an outside world in which even a dancing, colorful woman with open hair is a political statement. Into an outside world that suppresses, venerates, desires. In this outside world, femininity cannot simply exist; it has to fight for the right to be. That is why the women in my pictures are also fighters, not because they want or ought to be – solely because they have to be
